About OligoPool.com
Free browser-based tools for oligonucleotide design, primer review, and oligo pool quality checks.
Mission
OligoPool.com is maintained by sandy.zheng. For site, privacy, or advertising-account questions, use the site contact form.
OligoPool.com provides free calculation tools for oligonucleotide design and analysis. The method pages document the published parameters and assumptions used by the calculators.
The site focuses on common research tasks: melting-temperature checks, primer QC, GC analysis, secondary-structure review, dilution planning, batch sequence QC, and vendor-file preparation.
Core Principles
Free Public Tier
Public calculators remain available without required accounts. Optional Tool Membership extends high-volume workflow limits and API access.
Privacy First
Calculations run in your browser by default. Dashboard History stores the full input snapshot when save is enabled, and sequence assets are sent when you explicitly save them to Library or use membership/API workflows. Basic site analytics do not collect sequence content or calculation results.
Scientifically Accurate
Methods based on published literature (SantaLucia 1998, Owczarzy 2008, etc.). Method assumptions are documented so calculated values can be checked against the intended use case.
Open & Transparent
Calculation methods are documented, and bug reports or method questions can be sent directly through the contact form.
Technical Implementation
Built with modern web technologies: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS. Static site generation ensures fast loading and works offline after initial visit. The calculation engine is client-side TypeScript. The retained backend supports accounts, Dashboard History input snapshots, explicit Sequence Library saves, membership/API access, and inquiry operations.
Hosted on Cloudflare Pages for global CDN distribution. We use Google Analytics for basic website usage statistics (anonymized, no personal data). Account, Library, membership, API, admin, and feedback flows are retained product surfaces with explicit server-side contracts.
Editorial & Method Governance
How the site is organized
The site separates broad pool planning, synthesis planning, vendor short-listing, and method validation so each page has a clear job. Start with /oligo-pools, use /guides/oligo-pool-synthesis, compare vendors at /oligo-pools/vendor-comparison, and review method notes in /research.
Method and vendor notes
Vendor-sensitive and method-sensitive pages include visible update dates, source notes, and links to references where practical.
What we publish vs what we do not
OligoPool.com is a decision-support and tool site. It does not present itself as a synthesis vendor, a live quote engine, or a regulated lab service provider. Where claims need evidence, we point to References and Accuracy Validation.
How to read our technical pages
Open the linked source notes when a result depends on vendor limits, validation conditions, or published thermodynamic assumptions.
Limitations & Transparency
This is a tool website, not a comprehensive laboratory software suite. Products like Primer3, OligoAnalyzer, or Geneious offer more features. I don't claim to replace them.
Support is limited. Bug fixes and method corrections take priority over new features.
Validate critical designs independently. Calculated values should be checked against the assay context, vendor requirements, and experimental controls.
Future Development
Planned improvements (no timeline promises):
- Mobile app (offline-capable PWA)
- Bulk sequence library management
- Advanced visualization options
- Export to vendor order formats
Development driven by user feedback and my available time. Open to contributions if this becomes an open-source project in the future.
